Blues are one forward short at practice
There are 11 forwards on the ice this morning, after the loss of T.J. Oshie (appendecotomy) and D.J. King (hand/wrist).
The Blues are expected to call up either Yan Stastny or Derek Armstrong.
Correcting a blog that I wrote Saturday, Statsny does need to clear re-entry waivers. That’s because he has a contract ($500,000) that exceeds $105,000.
Armstrong does not have to clear re-entry waivers. He purposely accepted a contract of $105,000 so that he wouldn’t have to clear.
Armstrong was out all weekend in Peoria with the flu. That coupled with the fact that there isn’t a 12th forward on the ice today leads one to believe that Stasnty could be the call-up.
Even though the Blues are in an emergency situation (below 12 healthy forwards), a player must still clear re-entry waivers
If Stastny is on re-entry waivers, he know his fate by tomorrow.

So what happens if Stastny doesn’t clear waivers?
He would no longer be a Blue. He would play for whatever team claims him.
So the real question is, under what conditions can Stastny rejoin the Blues such that he isn’t vulnerable to being snatched by another club? Does he have to stay in Peoria all year?
$500,000 dollars seems like alot of money to pay Stastny to play in the minor leagues. Maybe the Blues feel the contract will scare other teams away.
