The St. Louis Blues have assigned forward Lars Eller back to their AHL affliliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Eller, 20, scored his first career goal in his NHL debut on Nov. 5 vs. Calgary. He played in five games with the Blues. The 6-1, 198-pound forward has played in 11 games this season with Peoria, recording 11 points (three goals, eight assists.)

Eller was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 13th overall in the 2007 Entry Draft.

thats great. the kid shows some skill which we are obviously lacking and hes sent down. this team cant win with these veterans so lets develop for the future and the team will still be as good.

Great I guess this means Brad Featherduster is back in the lineup.

What was the purpose of this move? I wasn’t aware of someone being injured that’s coming back. Eller needs to be in the lineup so that the veterans can feel like they’re on the hot seat. That’s you Tkachuk, Kariya, Berglund, Backes…

SG..Berglund, while not showing up to play is not a veteran player. This is his 2nd Nhl year. And you forgot Brad Boyes. Otherwise, I agree with you.

Eller only got 6:00 minutes last night. Peoria plays tonight so they may want him to get some extra playing time before tomorrows game.

He hasn’t looked good in the 3 games since the Philly game. He’s not cutting it here, and something needs to be done. He got his chance, and even though he was lucky and scored a goal, he hasn’t shown much since last Saturday.

Based on what I saw last night, this isn’t a bad move. The kid obviously has skill with the puck, but he doesn’t have a lot of faith in his teammates to be there when he tries to move the puck (gee, I wonder why that is…). Eller is still young, and he will be a part of this team for the long haul. But Murray needs to form lines and let them gel, and they weren’t going to do that with Eller crowding the front lines.
