Magnitude 7.8 earthquake in central China

To continue a distaster filled week, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake and a number of aftershocks upto 6.0 in magnitude hit Sichaun province in central China earlier today, killing more than 8,500 people. Some of those were high school students trapped when their school collapsed.

China has a long history of damaging earthquakes with some of the most deadly in history.

Death toll has already reached 10,000,up to 7,000 of them is in just one county - Bei Chuan county in China’s south-western Sichuan province. This is the worst disaster over the last 30 years in this region.
