“Good” for Sigma, but not for Dow
Dow Chemical fired board member Pedro Reinhard for engaging in “highly inappropriate” activity, which consisted of engaging in unauthorized talks to sell the company. This prompted the Wall Street Journal’s Deal Journal blog to ask the next logical question: What about the other boards Reinhard sits on?
One of those is St. Louis chemical company Sigma-Aldrich. Deal Journal says it called a Sigma-Aldrich spokesman, who said, “Pedro’s been a good board member for us.” Reinhard is up for re-election at the annual meeting on May 1. Watch the number of “withhold” votes to see how attuned Sigma-Aldrich shareholders are to this controversy.
