St. Louis Post-Dispatch
For some reason, CNBC has developed a healthy curiosity about the St. Louis economy and has asked a certain Post-Dispatch columnist/blogger to appear on its “Power Lunch” program tomorrow (Friday). I’ll be on shortly after 11 a.m. (central time) along with a few better-paid St. Louisans. The lunch lineup includes:
- Neil Smit, CEO of Charter Communications
- Gary Rainwater, CEO of Ameren
- James Weddle, CEO of Edward Jones
- Ralph Scozzafava, CEO-designate of Furniture Brands International.
- Hugh Grant, CEO of Monsanto
- Ronald Fromm, CEO of Brown Shoe
- Scott Wren, senior equity strategist at A.G. Edwards
Loiter around Kiener Plaza if you want to do some stargazing. The segment will air live from there.

David Nicklaus has covered St. Louis business for more than 25 years. His column appears three days a week on the Post-Dispatch business page.
CNBC has always had a good relationship with people down at AG Edwards. I’ve seen AG’s people on there more than once.
I think for the most part St. Louis represents middle america well and is probably the reason they are in town.
