Invest Midwest will feature 11 local companies
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The organizers of Invest Midwest have chosen 11 St. Louis companies to make their pitches for money at the annual venture capital forum on Wednesday. They’ll be among 42 presenters, the largest number in the event’s nine-year history.
The local companies seeking funding are:
- Advanced ICU Care, a medical services company based in St. Louis County.
- Edunn Biotechnology, which is developing drugs for Alzheimer’s disease and Down syndrome.
- Medros, a drug discovery company based at the Center for Emerging Technologies.
- M3 Technologies, a Washington, Mo., company that has a money-saving cooling technology for the plastics industry.
- Mobile Armor, a data security company based in Chesterfield.
- Somark Innovations, which has a technology for tattooing remotely readable ID numbers on livestock. It’s also based at the Center for Emerging Technologies.
- Vetgate USA, a Columbia, Ill., company that makes practice-management software for veterinarians.
- Akermin, which is working on biofuel-cell technology. It’s based at the Nidus Center for Scientific Enterprise in Creve Coeur.
- Gridlogix, a Crestwood company that helps clients manage their energy and security needs.
- TeraVista Systems, which has developed technology to improve companies’ environmental and energy performance. It is based in Kirkwood.
- Waste Remedies, which helps companies identify logistical problems and reduce waste. It is based in St. Louis.
Edunn and Medros also sought investors at last year’s Invest Midwest. Gridlogix and Somark were presenters in 2006, as was Akermin in 2005.
(NOTE: This post originally mentioned 43 total presenters, which was an incorrect count.)
