Jobless rate continues to climb
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The unemployment rate for metro St. Louis jumped to 6.4 percent in March from 5.0 percent a year earlier, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said today. This fits with the dismal story told by the BLS’ payroll survey, which shows St. Louis losing jobs in March.
The local unemployment rate is not seasonally adjusted. It’s the first time the March rate has been this high since 1993, when it was also 6.4 percent.
