Legislation cuts red tape for Missouri businesses
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
HB481 certainly didn’t grab the headlines that health care or nuclear power did during this year’s session of the Missouri Legislature, but Secretary of State Robin Carnahan thinks it will make a lot of businesses happy. Much of the bill is about courts and judicial proceedings, but it also cuts some red tape for businesses. In a news release, Carnahan points out that the legislation will:
- Give corporations the option of making their required filings every two years, rather than annually.
- Let companies choose the month in which they file those biennial (or annual) reports. Currently, they’re assigned a month based on the anniversary of when they incorporated.
- Reduce the filing fee for limited liability companies by more than 50 percent.
HB481 passed the House on a 101-55 vote and passed the Senate 34-0.
