InBev closes A-B deal, without the director to be named later
David Nicklaus
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

After months of angst, the acquisition of Anheuser-Busch by InBev is now history. There’s one slight change, though, from the original announcement. In July, InBev said it would add August Busch IV to its board along with one other “current or former” A-B director.

Today, InBev shrank that commitment by one. Its news release says:

The Board of Directors of the combined company will be comprised of the existing directors of the InBev Board and former Anheuser-Busch President and CEO August A. Busch IV.

More than likely, as we’ve discussed before, InBev was saving a board seat for Grupo Modelo Chief Executive Carlos Fernandez, who resigned from A-B’s board this summer. Relations between Fernandez and InBev chief Carlos Brito seem to be icy at the moment, since Modelo has filed an arbitration case over the deal.
