Dear Santa, please send GM some cash
In a case of life imitating Saturday Night Live, at least two of the three Detroit auto CEOs intend to drive to Washington for their return engagement. The SNL jokesters aren’t the only folks having fun at Detroit’s expense, either. Antony Currie of Breaking Views (subscription required) imagines General Motors’ Rick Wagoner writing a letter to Santa, and he manages to work in a musical parody:
We three kings of Michigan are. Bearing debts we travel afar. Congress unfeeling, we’re still reeling. Please give us lots of cash.
In a different musical vein, songster Leo Keough channels Simon & Garfunkel with his “Bridge Loan for Troubled Autos.” Here’s an excerpt:
Sail on SUV’s, sail on trucks.
Your time has come and gone.
All your dreams have gone away

Did you see the SNL skit? The big 3 used a projected bail out plan with a schedule of LOANS? required over the next 3 years to keep them running.
What ever happened to survival of the fittest?
