The small-to-medium sized addax “is one of the most endangered species on earth, ” according to John Newby of the Saraha Conservation Fund and former fellow of the St. Louis Zoo. Newby says the St. Louis Zoo plays a key role in the management of a small addax population. The goal of maintaining the population is to reintroduce the animal to the wild.
