Balaban’s on hold; more on Sugos
Don’t plan your reservations at a re-opened Balaban’s just yet. Aaron Teitelbaum of Monarch confirmed today that his group’s prospective takeover of the space at 405 North Euclid Avenue had hit a snag. “We’re not exactly sure what’s going on, but we don’t think it’s a deal-breaker,” Teitelbaum said.
Meanwhile, Michael Del Pietro called with some more details on Sugos, the Del Pietro family’s new pizza and pasta restaurant at 10417 Clayton Road in the Le Chateau complex in Frontenac. He’s shooting for a September 2 opening. The name, he said, comes from when the Del Pietro kids were growing up and mama Mary Rose Del Pietro would say, much to their delight, “I’m making sugo (sauce) for dinner!”
