Spend your vacation chez Jacques Pépin
Think I’m kidding? Iconic chef Jacques Pépin and his wife Gloria bought a condo on the Yucatán coast in Mexico a few years ago. “My wife’s mother was Puerto Rican and her father was Cuban, so the climate really appealed to her,” Pépin told me this morning. “It’s very convenient — we escape from Connecticut every January and February and go to Mexico.”
Looks like next March is booked, too. For most dates the rest of the year, however, the place is for rent — for as low as $175 a night. I have to ask my wife what she wants to do for vacation next year.
The great chef also had lots of interesting observations about culinary education, food presentation, pressure cookers and other topics, but you’ll have to wait a little while to hear about those.
