West County Persian; benefit for culinary Olympians

Let’s get some real news going in between all the meal recommendations. Although its website doesn’t yet reflect it, the Chesterfield strip-mall restaurant Hot ‘n Sour (45 Forum Center, Olive and 141) is going through yet another metamorphosis and change of ownership. As of last weekend, it was still serving the Chinese side of its “Indo-Chinese” menu, but diners were treated to complementary kababs to tout a transformation to Hot ‘n Sour and Kabab Cafe and the impending addition of a Mediterranean and Persian menu. (A quick update: A very reliable source tips that the new owner is Mohammad Abdolrezagh, who previously ran the now-closed Grand Mediterranean Kabob Cafe on South Grand.)

And with only a month until a team of young St. Louis-area chefs departs for Germany to represent the U.S. in the Culinary Olympics, a dozen or so local restaurants have signed on for a fundraiser October 8. Dine in one of these restaurants, and a recommended 25 percent of the proceeds will go to the team. Click here or call 314-568-7132 for more information.
