From Eat at Joe’s: Norton’s and Molly’s to combine
An owner of Molly’s (or at least someone who plays one on the Internet) checked in at the Eat At Joe’s forum with this scoop:
Just a little info in response to questions regarding Mollys and Nortons in Soualrd. The owners of Mollys are purchasing Nortons (I am one of the owners). The plan is to combine the 2 properties by opeing up the courtyard. The details of the concept are still being developed however here are a few things that have been decided. The Nortons space will remain a restaurant. The Patios will be combined and food will be available on the entire patio. The current Mollys will remain bar oriented but food will now be available. The restaurant will be non-smoking (if you want to smoke you can go to the patio or the bar at Mollys). The menu is in development. You have my word, it won’t be white table cloth fine dining but it will be way above typical bar food. There are still some hurdles to clear but we hope to be open around the beginning of June. Questions are welcome and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Joe Bonwich has been the restaurant critic for the Post-Dispatch since 2002 and has covered the local food scene for various publications for more than 25 years. He does his best to maintain his anonymity so that he isn't recognized in restaurants (which is why his picture looks like it does).
I am a bit disappointed in the journalism. The notion that Mollys purchasing the Nortons space constitutes the two combining is ludicrous. If Nortons is closing and Mollys is taking over the Nortons space, let’s be honest and say that.
