Gateway City Barbecue Festival is postponed

The Gateway City Barbecue Festival, noted in this space about a week ago, has been postponed until fall. The organizers at the Old Rock House south of downtown noted that what sounded like a perfect match — a barbecue contest over Fourth of July weekend — actually led to objections from numerous teams, who preferred to stay home with their families for the holiday. A revised date is pending.

What is more important, family or hot delicious barbeque? I am serious about that. Your family is there 24/7. When you are born and when you die, there is family. You cannot say that about barbeque. It is there sometimes, other times it is not. I do not like this attitude. Next time you want me to do something, what if I pulled the family card? Reconsider again and hold the barbeque festival as you promised.

Good idea…plenty to over the Fourth already…save it for fall when its cooler out,hopefully.
I DONT KNOW WHAT POST MODERN IS BUT IT MUST BE RELATED TO THE DEVIL’S FOOD, BBQ! EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND THROW AWAY ALL THE BBQ YOU CAN FIND!!!!!!
BBQ is awesome day and night and that includes July 4. If you are a BBQ chef you have a responsibility to cook BBQ on the Fourth of July. Fireworks employees have families too, you think they are going to take the day off and just blow off firecrackers in October or something? If your job is cooking Q, shooting off fireworks or serving beer you need to work on July 4th and the day before also. Oooooh, it is the fourth of July and I want to be with my family, the barbeque can wait, that is BALONEY. Cook the BBQ like you promised!!!!

Louis..i think you’re missing the story…i’ll be bbq’ing with the family on the 4th and as much as i can,too..this is a competition between bbq teams..
