Four new indie restaurants in Chesterfield Valley

At least they appear to be independents. Taj Palace is in an outbuilding in the Target parking lot in a space that housed a broasted chicken place for what seemed like about six weeks and a noodle place before it. I had the $8.95 lunch buffet today, which was a bit smaller, at least in terms of entrees, than similar Indian buffets but refreshed very regularly and nicely aromatic and spicy.

Look for a planned December opening of Yagu Asian Fusion, 17265 Chesterfield Airport Road, in a smaller strip mall on the north side of the street. The place is just drywall supports right now, although one wall made of thin tree trunks has been installed.

And open for about two weeks is Tribeca Bistro and Lounge, 120 Chesterfield Valley drive in the same L-shaped strip center as the Chesterfield location of Oishi. Tribeca lists Jazz, Piano, Top 40, Acoustic, “Jiving Piano,” and UltraLounge DJ as its changes-every-night music styles but doesn’t have a menu online or in its window.

Finally, George Mahe of St. Louis Magazine reports that a third location of Trattoria Branica will occupy the former KoBa space off of Long Road.

The former KoBa.

The former KoBa.

It is spelled ‘Indie”, moron.

True, “joe”, but no need to be so harsh. I’d like to see you do your job out where every anonymous jerk can criticize. Hey… you play for the Rams, don’t you? That explains the attitude.

Thank you for that articulate, thoughtful correction, which I’ve made. Certainly it added an immense amount of clarity to the information contained in the blog entry.

And, of course, “indie” is the more prevalent usage. But in this ever-changing world, even the ultimate authoritative Web source, Wikipedia, might cut me a break:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indy

Then again, when you see whom Wikipedia uses for an expert for “provel” and “slinger,” you might question its credibility. :-)

Joe Bonwich, I really enjoy reading your stories and posts. They are very informative and interesting. I think “joe” must be having a bad day - or life.

All of those businesses will be out of business within a year!

Well, of course they will. Independent restaurants don’t stand a chance of lasting more than a year in the Valley. Just ask Annie Gunn’s, Espino’s, Caito’s, Villa Farotto, East Coast Pizza, Oishi, Emperor’s Palace and Wild Horse Grill, among others. 8)

Jason’s Deli is coming to St. Louis?? WHERE?
Oh man I will be there the first day they open. Lived in TX a long time and Jason’s was one of my favorites?

Tribeca’s official website is http://www.TribecaSTL.com …..and is temporarily down as we post our food menu and our drink/wine/martini menu amongst other stuff….our myspace page (while is a great means of social networking) is not our main website. So we’d like to appologize to our customers and viewers for the lack of a menu being posted, and it will be up soon. Come check us out– Mon-Sat: 4pm-1:30am and Sun: 4pm-12:00am —-full menu from 4pm-9pm, and appetizers from 9pm-close. We do offer: steaks, fish, chicken, pastas, sandwhiched, fried calamari, crustini, chicken skewers, fresh mozz skewers, stuffed portabellas, and much much more! Hope to see you all soon (120 Chesterfield Valley Dr, in the valley, behind the Movie Theater).
