Add it to the rotten parenting file…

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

In this story, a mom is allegedly selling drugs while her two-year-old is getting into her crack stash at home. Sad to say, but there are some situations that I don’t think parenting classes can solve.

This is likely one of them.

Forget parenting classes…

Yes, this is tragic….but the real tragedy occurs when some scumbag attorney skates around the system to allow this \’person\’ to see her child again. Her parental rights should be forfeited and she should be prevented from bringing anymore children into this world - likely to only suffer the same fate as the first.

This is more justification for my opinion that people should be given some sort of “common sense” IQ test in early adolescence. Forgive me if I spelled that wrong. If you fail the “common sense” test, you should be placed on birth control or chemically castrated until you CAN pass the test. I know this is an extremist opinion, but it seems to me that we may need extremist action in order to prevent this sort of thing from happening again.

I know there are plenty of very young mothers in the world who are wonderful parents, who take fantastic care of their children. But this particular young mother is setting an absolutely wretched example, and giving all young mothers a very bad name.

…and who do the other 2 children belong to? why would those parents leave their children with this young woman who they probably knew as a drug dealer….. damn!

I am a firm believer that children are a product of thier environment. I won’t go as far to say that some people should be chemically unabled to reproduce. But if the children are not taken out of that environment they will grow up to be repeats of thier parents. I think everyone deserves a second chance, but only if they can prove that they won’t make the same mistake again. In order for mom to change she’ll need to remove herself from the environment also. One’s IQ level or common sense ability is not an indicator of what kind of parent they are going to be. It takes a village to raise a child.
