Horrific cheerleader beating shines light on amoral teen violence

One of the most disturbing videos illustrating the problem of violence springing from the Internet into real life came to light this week.

Videotaped footage of six girls, ages 14 to 17, beating 16-year-old cheerleader Victoria Lindsay for more than 30 minutes has been plastered all over the Internet and television. The girls allegedly lured Victoria to a house and wanted to get back at her for things she allegedly wrote online about them. They also allegedly wanted to become famous by posting the video on sites like MySpace and YouTube.

You can watch the horrific and graphic video here.

This should be a wake-up call to parents, educators and the media about how to deal with mean, angry, violent young people — who look just like the girls next door. The teen allegedly involved in this incident seem beyond redemption. They seem to lack any sense of right and wrong or morality. Fittingly, one of their parents was on the air defending their daughter’s actions.

I think the parents in this case should also be charged with some sort of crime. How can you raise monsters and not realize it?

Well, they got what they wanted… fame. Hope they enjoy reeping all the benefits and basking in all of the glory from behind bars. This is the generation that will one day be in charge. It pains me to see how simple minded the majority of people in this country have become…. We are trully headed down a long dreary path….

There are few good people in US, fortunately. But overall the level of morality is so low. Specially parents in this country they run after materialistic values, totally ignoring morality and spirituality. They teach kids to beat other kids, to steal from others, fame included, all in the name of competetion. They teach and preach and practice hatred. You even see old folks, on death beds interested in weekend sales, buying, selling, making some extra money and such, before they die. That is a shame. It is not surprising that the far east countries are rising, and will continue to rise rapidly, while this country drowns itself in materialistic greed, hatred, intolerance and violence. Why do you think there is financial and all sorts of crisis? TOTAL LACK OF SPIRITUALITY. Unfortunately not even God can help. Please wake up everyone before it is too late. No wonder 25% of the population is so disgusted that they have changed their religion, many embracing buddhisim, hinduism and the likes.

The truly sad part in all of this is the parents of the girls who took part in the beatings making excuses for their kids. That’s one of the biggest reasons why some of today’s kids are so out of control — there’s no one in their life who holds them accountable for their actions. Whatever happend to parents in charge who make an effort to instill good moral judgement into their children? Whatever happened to doing the right thing?

these girls need to be tried as adults and sent to prison, they new what they were doing and should be treated as adults. I hope the girl who was hurt parents sue the pants off the parents of the kids who did this horrible act . No excuse for what they did they could have killed her!!!!!!!! You can see on the video they just did not care and kept on beating her.

To everyone: This is another senseless violent crime. Unfortunately our society is much too lenient on people like this. We already know they are unintelligent by the actions they have taken, but on top of that they videotaped the entire beating.

To the victim: I have three daughters, one of which has been beaten by two other girls. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of what needs to happen to the criminals that beat her. There will be justice some day so keep that in mind. The names of the criminals are available and someone will take action to even the score, whether it is right or not. So rest assured, their time will come and when it does they will beg for mercy but it will not come. In the mean time, I wish you a speedy recovery and by all means, stay off of those social sites like myspace and facebook.

For the mother that appeared on the Today show, you should be ashamed of your own reaction to this case. You say you are ashamed of what happened but you are still trying to defend your daughter. I know this is human nature and you are scared. You should be scared because now you have to wait in fear to see what will happen next. Good luck with that. I hope all involved get the maximum penalty allowed by law.

These girls do not deserve to be part of a free society. I hope that the parents of the victim gets the best lawyer possible and sue all involved. Those kids should be tried as adults and sent away to a the most violent prison possible.

Yet another display of stuipidy and lack of respect for another person shown by a group of teens.I do not care if they are “cheerleaders” or”sweet kids” they were TOTALLY wrong and everyone of them deserves to be kicked out of after school activities for this year and on….they do NOT exemplfy the student that should sponsor their schools.
They ALL need probation and community service(but NOT together)….no excuses THEY WERE ALL GUILTY and no parent can condon this !.If one of my daughters had done such a thing THAT would have reflected on my raising and the values I taught them,in my opinion and I guarentee I would of been first in line to be sure they are approperatly punished.
NO EXCUSES parents…make your kids accountable, just as we all need to be accountable for our wrongs.I am ashamed of these punks…..looks like trash comes in all economic classes!

Feel like crying after watching this video. I feel so sorry for the victim. With her face blocked out, it seems like it could be any helpless teenager you know. These monsters should get the maximum possible. That will only happen if the public keeps the pressure on the authorities.

To the poster who recommended these despicable people should get PROBATION, I would like to remind them that this girl was held against her will for long enough to beat her unconscious, revive her and beat her again. You can hear her begging to leave several times but she has been KIDNAPPED.

Probation is NOT enough. I don’t want to live in a country where kidnappers get probation. Do you?

To everyone else: I would also like to remind you of the Jena6 crime and ask what would happen to these girls if they were black? If these sociopaths get off with probation, it only points to the horrible imbalances in our justice system.

The reason the parents are defending their kids is that they are trying to defend themselves for raising such a child. A suit against the child is basically a suit on the parents for raising the kid in that way. You could have filmed a kid killing a person and the parents would defend that as well.

The real problem is that there’s no responsibility and consequences for actions. In my world, each child who did the bad acts would get caned several times based on the severity of the damage to the victim, have to pay financially for the pain and suffering of the victim, and have to do 50 hours of community service and would be released. If the same thing happens again, we just double the penalties AND we would conduct the penalties as promised. There would be no lessening of penalties for “GOOD BEHAVIOR” as the bad dead has already been done.

Oh, you say you don’t have the $ to pay for the pain and suffering, that means that we will garnish a certain % of wages you get in the future to pay for this. Oh, you don’t have a job, your entire government benefits you would have gotten will be garnished until the debt is paid up. Oh, you don’t have enough $ to live due to this, well that’s just too bad.

Some may say we have a civilized society. Well, then prove it!!!

I will guarantee that this will work and reduce these kinds of crimes and all other crimes in the future. Singapore has the lowest crime rate in the world and would be an excellent example to follow.

Why are my recommendations not being done? First of all, it would drastically reduce the crime industry and result in less police, judges, prisons, police cars, courthouses, and lawyers being needed and would save the taxpayer countless amounts of tax dollars. There are people who are profiting from the status quo.

I challenge anyone to show how this is not the case.
