Growing up too fast?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
There are going to many significant “first days” coming up in the next few days and weeks for a lot us…first day of preschool, kindergarten, middle school or high school. In this week’s column, I write about my mixed emotions about my daughter’s first day of kindergarten. Part of me wants to slow down her rapid race through childhood. The other part can’t wait until she grows up. Is anyone else a little emotionally mixed up about an upcoming first day?

My 3 kids started back to school today!A little early for me,my eldest son is a junior My daughter a sophmore and the baby is a big fith-grader……………..oh how time flys I’m tearing up just thinking about those precious firt days of kindergarten, savor every last moment! Still watching them become their own persons unique in every way, is a gift in itself.
My daughter asked me why I was up so early this morning I fibbed and told her I couldn’t sleep,I really just wanted to see them off(even tho they don’t need me to). My mom told me that between the ages of 13 thro 25 they tend to not need you,(they think they don’t) but if you play your cards right they come back home, to your heart for good!
I’m remembering so many years ago my son and daughter 5 and 6 at the time pumping away on the backyard swing-set “Hey Kelly what grade will you be in”….”first” he replied what about you Rach…(long pose)………Gleefully “LAST”!
