Sarah Palin and a $150,000 clothing shopping spree

Yesterday, I bought two tank tops from Wal-Mart for $10 each. In this economy, I felt a twinge of guilt and was still debating whether I should return my frivolous purchase when I got home.

That was until I read this Politico report that Sarah Palin has spent $150,000 of the Republican National Comittee’s campaign funds for clothes, accessories, hair and makeup for herself and her family.  Apparently, up to $49,000 of that may have been spent locally at our very own Saks Fifth Avenue at Plaza Frontenac. The McCain campaign has said the clothes will be donated to charity after the election. (I want the name of those Goodwill stores, so I can be first in line).

But, seriously. Working moms, hockey moms, stay-at-home moms: Have you cut down on your clothes shopping as the economy has worsened? Does $150,000 seem over-the-top to the women Palin is most looking to connect with?

It shouldn’t seem over the top. what it should do is legitamize her ability to relate to the average working moms/soccer moms/stay-at-home moms, because she didn’t have that kind of clothing budget and the entire family needed to be “dressed-up” for all the additional media scrutiny. If she was in tank-tops and other “everyday” clothing, the story would then be how she is unqualified to serve in the government….

There is never talk about how much the suits that any of the male candidates cost, or Joe Biden’s $4 million dollar vacation house, or, for a better example, how much is Hillary Clinton’s wardrobe budget?

Yes I agree that $150,000 is excessive especially in this economy. We have people struggling to pay their bills, feed their families and buy gas to get to work it’s over the top. Now I understand that she’s on the campaign trail and needs to look the part but $150,000 is too much.

god forbid the media look into how much Michelle Obama has spent and she’s not even running. Do you think her clothing budget comes out of their own pocket? Probably from the same people that paid for Obama’s college tuition and his trips abroad after graduation. PLEASE give me a break - this is news?? If obama gets elected, we’ll all be shopping at Walmart since we’ll “be spreading our wealth around” instead of using our hard earned dollars on our own family.

Can we also get the numbers on clothing expenditures for Obama’s wife before the DNC put her out on the campaign trail?

That’s what I thought.

if any of you people paid attention to the news (and not Fox Noise), you would know that the majority of Michelle Obama’s clothes come from Marshall’s and cost around $200 per outfit.

what I think is more significant than this is the OBSCENE outfit that Cindy Stepford McCain wore to the RNC–retailed for more than $250k–but hey, she and John feel the pain of the middle class and can relate to their problems…talk about “know your audience!”

Mooselini is a JOKE and more and more people are discovering that every day–and it ain’t just the clothes, folks. It’s the glaring lack of knowledge, the nasty and divisive rhetoric, and the utter hypocrisy of the reformer/maverick bull-sh**.

Obama raised 150 million for his campaign for September that is 66 million more than McCaing got. If Obama and Michelle are such great people why don’t they just donate the extra 66 million (”to all of those who are suffering”) instead of spending it on more TV commercials and who knows what else.

You can put $150,000 worth of clothes on an idiot, but she’s still an idiot.

Brian–um…tank-tops are not everyday clothing in most areas of the country…and even if Ellie Mae Clampett were running for office, no one believes she would wear cut-offs and tank tops while campaigning.

Also–NOTHING could legitimize this woman–you can perfume up the PIG all you want but it still OINKS–whether it’s oinking at a debate or oinking on a CBS interview.

and the icing on the cake is her unethical behavior of modifying expense reports AFTER the fact to make it appear that her children were INVITED to various events that were charged back to tax-payers in Alaska.

What a charlatan this woman is–a hack…a sham artist…a chatty cathy who is in wayyyyyyy over her head.
