Jon minus Kate = sadness

In case you missed it, celebrity parents of 8, Jon and Kate Gosselin, announced their divorce last night on TV. Read the story here.

Watching last night made me incredibly sad, and I haven’t been able to quit thinking about it. As any parent knows, children can put a strain on a marriage. Through several seasons, we’ve watched the strain of eight kids play out on national TV. But I still always thought the joy the kids brought them might be enough to pull them through.

Last night, we heard Jon actually use the word “excited” to talk about his future. All I can think is about those kids. How “excited” are they going to be?

Of course he’s excited, he won’t have to put up with that Shrew any more.

Kate will do fine. She’s a survivor. Jon feels he’s lost his “youth” … he needs to grow up. Kate has always had her children as top priority. If Kate hadn’t been so organized, it would have been mayhem and foolishness throughout that household. Maybe now Kate can have some peace and serenity.

parents must work on their marriage first and foremost. kate’s top priority should have been her marriage. many people are organized without totally disregarding their spouses’ feelings.

Yeah “poor Kate”. Has everyone forgotten that Jon didn’t want a third pregnancy. They already had two beautiful kids and Kate knew the risks of multiples involved using in vitro. Before anyone hollers, I am female, and actually quite feminist in my beliefs. Kate brought this on herself by hounding the man for that third pregnancy. “Poor Kate” my rear end!! Her career has always come before those kids she wanted. Be careful what you wish for next time!

If they really cared about the kids, they would have stopped filming the show and worked on their relationship. All they want is the money and fame associated with the show. It went to their heads and cost them their marriage. I feel really bad for the kids, but no sympathy for either Jon or Kate.

First of all, kids are great, but if anyone thinks that having children will *help* a floundering relationship, they are dreaming. The demands of childrearing will challenge any marriage, and when parents clash on issues related to childrearing (as Jon and Kate did), look out!

This divorce is not sad. It was inevitable. If Jon had treated Kate the way Kate treated Jon, people would have been howling about spousal abuse since the first episode aired. There is a huge gulf between being “organized” and being a controlling narcissist with anger issues, and Kate falls into the latter category. The only “sad” thing is that while Jon can escape the verbal abuse, the kids can’t.

She has previously cut off contact with every member of her own family, and she has done some appalling things to her own children (eg, making a sick toddler sleep on the laundry room floor so he wouldn’t get his sheets dirty), so it’s no suprise that Jon got fed up. I just hope the kids get to spend more time with him than with her. Given her recent book tour schedule–which kept her out of town for a solid month–that is a distinct possibility.

I’m shocked he lasted that long with her. I couldnt stomach watching her treat him and the children like garbage for even 30 minutes without changing the channel. My only hope is that he receives sole custody and she has to pay Child Support on 8 children. With the average being about 500$ a month per child, she better write another book.

Kate is no different than the “Octo-Mom”. She had all those kids to go on TV and make money. Remember, Kate is trailer trash. You can take the woman out of the trailer, but you can’t take the trash out of the woman.

The show originally was to show how a typical large family lives and survives. They are not typical making $75,000 an episode. A typical family with one wage earner makes about $75,000 a year. TLC should have taken them off the air when they saw the problems coming. They are just as responsible as Jon and Kate themselves. Those children do not know what a normal childhood is and they will rebel. Good luck with that.

jon+kate show = stupid
jon-kate show = stupid
You reap what sow and putting your kids on a tv show will ruin their lives too. It’s all about the money and putting it before the well-being of your kids.

File this under all the other ridiculous and worthless distraction stories: “Swine Flu taking over!” “Pujols will leave if we don’t jack up his salary!” “Someone wants to wipe Israel off the map!”
