Star-struck parents, take heed: Do not let your child become the next Pam Anderson “fashion slave.”

The New York Post reported in this article that the buxom television star shocked the Hollywood Style Awards over the weekend by recruiting a shy, 9-year-old girl to hold up her risqué dress all night.

The bizarre move drew criticism from child advocacy groups who say little Adelaide Gault is too young to be used as a fashion accessory.

One guest told Page Six: “People were genuinely shocked.

“She didn’t even have her own seat and had to sit at Pamela’s feet, where people nearly stepped on her to get to the stage. The girl looked uncomfortable and kept tugging on her dress to get her attention, but Pamela waved her away.

The young girl is apparently the daughter of makeup artist to the stars Sharon Gault, who reportedly has said that her daughter was excited to attend the event. But sources told Page Six otherwise:

“Pamela was telling people it was her daughter,” the attendee said. “And, after she presented David LaChapelle with an award onstage, she shouted ‘daughter’ in front of the whole auditorium, and slapped her leg like she was calling a puppy. The girl rushed up to grab her train.”

Certainly, Pamela Anderson deserves the bad press she’s getting for this ridiculous stunt, but she’s never pretended to be the brightest bulb on deck. The better question is: What in the world was this girl’s mother thinking, allowing her daughter to be a pin-up’s prop all night?

Mommy thought that any connection to a celebrity is good. She thinks some producer or agent or Simon Cowell will spot her baby and make a New Star. Either that or she can file a nuisance child-endangerment suit.
