Post-Dispatch photographers recognized by Y98

Last week on my way to work I had the radio tuned to the Phillips and Company morning show on Y98. I was suprised to hear a familiar voice on the radio. It was the Post’s public relations manager Tracy Rouch touting our latest book St. Louis Cardinals Decades: A Scrapbook of Memories. Tracy gave background on how the book came together and talked about where to buy the book (Walgreens!). The most surprising part came when Jen or Courtney (can’t remember who…) specifically mentioned the Post-Dispatch photographers.

Sure, we take photographs that end up in the paper daily but usually people talk about the people in our pictures, not us. She raved about the moments we capture and how we capture them. I would like to thank her for taking note of this and also acknowledge the hard work of Chris Lee and several others on our photo staff (David Carson, Robert Cohen, J.B. Forbes, Emily Rasinski, Christian Gooden, Laurie Skrivan and Huy Mach) that worked on our postseason coverage this year. They’ve proven that when the baseball is bad, the photos can still be good.

Also, if you missed the all-staff project, Cardinal Culture, from earlier this year, check it out.

Congrats! Glad to see you guys get some more than well deserved recognition!

This blog is the #1 page I visit on stltoday.com for one basic reason: The P-D employs some of the finest photojournalists in America.

The only thing I’d change with the P-D is to have fewer “Getty Images” and “Associated Press” photos and more of our own talent being displayed.
