Last week, I was feeling extra ambitious and wanted to shoot the sunrise for a story on Gasconade County. The night before, I checked the weather forecast, and knew there was a overwhelming chance of rain. But I was hoping the meteorologist were wrong and that I could be extremely lucky.

So, I woke up at 5 a.m., chugged a bottom of vanilla Ensure, and made the hour-and-half drive to Hermann. I’m sure there was a beautiful sunrise, but the rain clouds got in the way. So instead of warm glowing light, I got cold and gloomy photos. Oh well, better luck next time.

I got one shot of this situation...nice deep blue sky, wet streets, well lit courthouse.

and then, at 7 a.m., the lights on the courthouse turned off. That kinda ruined my shot.
