Sleepless in Spanish Lake

As a photojournalist on election day, you know you’re going to have a long day.  I woke up at 4am, had breakfast, and was at my assignment in Spanish Lake to photograph potential voters in line just after 5am.  While sleepwalking and taking pictures, since of course I had to stay up last night to watch Monday Night Football, I met Terrone Jones who had the distinction of being first in a line that was already well over a hundred people deep.

Jones, pictured above wearing a hat, said he took a two hour nap last night and arrived at the Twillman Elementary School polling place in Spanish Lake around midnight to secure his spot at the front of the line.  He was the only one there until around 3am when others began to arrive.  He said he wanted to be a part of history, and besides that he had to be at work by 10am.  Now that’s a long day.
