Old School
TIME magazine recently named President-elect Barack Obama their 2008 Person of the Year. One of their stories focuses upon a series of pictures taken of him by photographer Lisa Jack when he was a student at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Most of us have seen older photographs showing President-elect Obama in his younger years in profiles of him aired by various media outlets. But, according to Jack, when she discovered the negatives she decided to put them in a safety-deposit box until after the election so that “there would be no chance they could be used for political purposes.”
So hold on to those old, dusty negatives and photographs. You never know what hidden gems are waiting to be discovered.

I’m betting Lisa Jack wouldn’t have put those photo’s in a safety deposit box had they been of a Republican and could have ruined his or her chances of winning the Presidency. But that’s the media for you…biased and unashamed of it.
The election is over….he won….can we move on now?
The most cocky and arrogant Times person of the year.
To Mike (the reader’s comment above):
If you had taken the time to read the TIME magazine article about Lisa Jack’s photo shoot with the future President, then you would know that she was not at the time and is not now a member of any major media outlet. She was a freelance photographer looking for subjects to photograph for her modeling portfolio. She did not realize her dream of becoming a photographer and is now a psychologist. Here is her quote: “I’m not political,” Jack says. “[But] these are historical photos, and they should be shared.” Anyone can make assumptions about her political leanings as a private citizen, but I thought it was necessary to point out that she was not a member of a newspaper or media outlet when she took these pictures and is not a member of any media outlet now since she is a practicing psychologist. Thus, she should not be accused of being a “biased” or “unashamed” member of the media, per your accusation.
What else was locked up and hidden by the media? Say, where’s that birth certificate anyway?
Spiderman, Obama won but we’ll never stop bitching about a totally biased, manipulative media. Remember, protest is patriotic for conservatives too. And if the economy keeps tracking downward with our glorious government passing along trillions in debt to the relative few who actually pay taxes, protest could turn to revolution. What was it Thomas Jefferson said about “refreshing the tree of liberty”?
Disaster, I agree, I would to see the birth certificate issue put to rest as well, whatever the outcome is. I think they’re hiding something and I don’t understand why it wasn’t more of an issue during the race.
Conspiracy? You losers need to get over it. Embrace your President and go forward with a critical time in our history. Help keep America the best place in the world. Shut up, get to work in your own community.
Do you mean the birth certificate that Obama put up on his website in JULY? The one that the state of Hawaii has verified as AUTHENTIC? Why on earth is anyone worried that a person born on American soil as verified by an American state is not an American? It has been verified repeatedly, and yet people refuse to believe it. Whose fault is that? Probably too many people watching the extremely biased Fox News.
Where are the photos of him smoking pot and snorting cocaine?
Disaster, you’ve made great points. MJK, I’m not as concerned about the birth certificate so much since we haven’t asked any other candidate for theirs. We know who his parents were - but he didn’t get a chance to pick them. The economy is a mess right now and neither party can wave a magic wand to fix it short term. This is gonna take awhile and a change in philosophy for all of us.
