Keeping up with the new Archbishop of St. Louis, Robert J. Carlson
On first glance, the newly-elected Archbishop of St. Louis, Robert J. Carlson, doesn’t act like the stereotypical Archbishop. Covering him during his tour of St. Louis on Tuesday, the new Archbishop exerts a high level of energy and zeal for a 64 year-old experienced pastor from Saginaw. It was difficult enough just to keep up with him for the photographs! Greeting me in the morning with a sincere and humble tone, you can only imagine how unexpected it was for me (and everyone else) to see the new Archbishop do the “going on a bear hunt” dance in front of students later that afternoon at St. Francis Cabrini in south St. Louis.
My photographic instincts are telling me that Carlson will be a pretty interesting fellow to cover in the future. Hopefully the paper will let me keep the beat. I’m already off to a good start with him.
