Patience and high pain threshold

Patience. Pain. These were the two words that came to mind while I was walking around the tattoo expo last Friday.  Two words that also reveal why I don’t have any tattoos.  This was my first year covering the event and I wished I had more time.  I was kindly given a room to set up a mini portrait studio. I walked around the floor spotting interesting ink, asking folks to step inside my space for a moment. Two hours later, I looked down at my watch to see I had already missed my deadline.  But boy, did I see some beautiful work!  And, a lot of patience and high thresholds for pain. For example, yoga instructor Dierdra Michelle’s ravens’ wings tattoo. by Bill Henshaw, took 38 hours to complete.

Be sure the take a look at the gallery from the event.
