Here Comes the Sun…

A couple weeks ago I was tapped to shoot the Fall A&E Emerging Artists Preview.
After scouting a few places, I landed on the nice wall of greenery in Lafayette Square.
I had selected the location based on the nice neutral flat lighting.
And then, the sun started to peek through the trees. I wanted to capture the glare.
For the next 15 minutes, I bracketed, trying various aperture settings until I found the right size of the glare.
Here is the final frame we selected for publication. We felt the sunburst glare lent something special to the photo.
The process reminded me how light can create mood and interest in a photograph.
