A Call To Arms
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
I’m preparing to work election night. These are exciting times. I enjoy it when the photo staff gets to come together as a team, and create something informative and wonderful for our community. The hours will be long and hard but worth all the effort.

In general, what are the plans for photographer coverage on election day/night?
I’m assuming you cover selected polling places as well as the various parties after the polls close. It would be interesting to learn more about what you guys are going to do.
Will you be accepting photos from the public thoughout the day?
Nice summary on A7 within the “Election Day Coverage” sidebar but barely a mention of “photos and video”. Hey Jo, how ’bout showing some love for our crack photog staff?
In general you are correct in your assumption. We are assigned polling places parties etc. But there is a shared since of purpose as a staff that occurs when we know that we are going to produce as a collective, during a historic moment wether it’s a presidential election, World Series or a Super Bowl. We really feel the bond as a staff during events like this one, because most of the time photography is a solitary effort.
