Post-Dispatch photographer wins in Best of Photojournalism
Laurie Skrivan has won first place in the Photo Illustration category of the National Press Photographers Association annual Best of Photojournalism competition.
Laurie, 35, is a graduate of the University of Missouri, and has been a Post-Dispatch staff photographer since 1997.
Her photo is entitled “Green”, and illustrates the point that Americans are rallying behind the new environmentally conscious movement.
Today marks the beginning of judging some 53,000 still images, video, and Web entries from 3,700 journalists in 147 different countries, and continues until Friday.
In addition to the Conceptual Photo Illustration category, today’s winners include photos in Sports Action, Sports Feature, The Art of Entertainment, Olympics Action, Olympics Feature, Natural Environment, and Sports Picture Story. See the complete story here.
