Calling for help from St. Louis Cardinals baseball fans
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The photo department is working on a project and we would love to hear from you.
How do get your Cardinals fix when you are not at the game?
Do you listen on the radio?
Do you find a tv wherever you are?
Do you plan events around games?
What do you do?
Let us know by June 20, 2009 - send an email to: online@post-dispatch.com with your name, email address and daytime and evening phone numbers so we can get in touch with you. No phone calls please.
Thanks!

Hello - I am born and raised in St. Lou but live in Ankeny Iowa now which is near Des Moines. When my husband asked if I would be willing to move from Springfield, IL to Iowa in 2002 (because he was getting a new job) - I said, I would not move unless I could get my Cardinals, and I meant it. So, he purchased XM radio in our Honda Accord, a portable XM for the house which I also use at work and in our Honda CRV and subscribe to Direct-TV so I do not miss one minute of Cardinal baseball - whether I am at home, work or driving. I love my Cardinals!!! Also, I have maintained my ownership with a Springfield IL Cardinal club (been in this group for 20 years) which gets season tickets and even got in another group out of St. Lou with some of my friends. So we literally travel to St. Lou for at least 15 games throughout the summer and typically, travel to Jupiter to pick up a few spring training games as well. Go Cards! Nancy Bodine.
Thank you, Nancy, for responding to our plea! You are a true fan. Our project this time, however, is limited to folks who will be in our local area. I hope we find more fans just like you.
I am born and raised in St. Louis as is my husband but we currently live in the Houston Texas area…so how do we get our fix….
well we go to all Cards games against the Astro’s here in town and we go with hair sprayed red, faces painted red, cards shirts/jerseys…we look like we belong at Busch but we are at Minute Maid and we are PROUD CARDINAL FANS! They aren’t too warm at Minute Maid when we show up but since we usually win it’s not an issue…
When they aren’t here, we either watch on T.V., find them on the radio, computer, or I use my G1 from T-Mobile and watch on MLB.com from my phone….no matter where we are we know what’s going on with the Red Birds…
Our dog who is named “colonal Red Scheondist sanders” yeah it’s a Cardinal thing….His pedigree papers say it and they are framed above his bed…along with a Cardinal’s rug on the floor where he sleeps.
The cards are my life, one time when I went to the hospital and they wanted to do surgery well that night I was supposed to go to the cubs vs cardinals game (the one where Pujols hit out the I in Big Mac Land). Well anyways they asked me what religious preference I would like and the first thing that came out of my mouth was St. Louis Cardinals, I just wanted to get to the game…Also usually when I get home from work. I slap on FSN and watch the cards play while relaxing.
I should let my 10 year old answer this. She hates when I listen to the game in the car because I am very animated. I scream, holler, wave my hands in the air. She sinks down in the car like I am embarrasing her. I do the same thing when I watch the game at home. I just wonder what my neighbors think when they hear me screaming.
Been a Cards fan for nearly 50 years. I even remember when they used to win games. Mostly watch ‘em on the tube now because going to the games is too costly. A way overpriced product.
Frabax…read another website if you are that angry about it are spare the rest of us. I watch the game on FSN whenever I can, even in the background when I can’t actually watch pitch to pitch. While traveling, well I’m just hosed b/c 30 miles East of St. Louis KTRS the big loser 550 sounds so awful it’s unbearable to listen to. There are some FM alternatives in the area, but they are just as bad. At night…forget about it. Drive past a Casey’s or other well lit establishment…all fuzz. Seriously, I hope advertisers are only paying half of what they paid when KMOX broadcasted, b/c you can’t hear half of what’s going on. So I get text message updates instead…but that’s soon to be illegal, so I don’t know what I’ll do after that.
For about six years, I was away from my Saint Louis Cardinals baseball team. During that time,I was studying in college up in Minneapolis. Watching Twins baseball on TV wasn’t the same. It just didn’t seem right. So I decided to boycott the Twins games and watch all the Cardinals games on TV via computer with MLB TV. It was well worth the monthly payments. My last game at any stadium was in the old Busch Stadium. When the Twins play the Cardinals at home in the later part of June, it will be my first home game in at least six years.
I watch tv, listen to radio and go to shows…and that is how I know Bill Detwit is a cheap ass.
* I meant games instead of shows *
