Ever wonder who picks the pictures that run in the daily paper or on line?
Well it is certainly not the photographer for the most part.
Photo Editors decide which pictures are published.
This picture of the of people boarding an Amtrak train ran on the fornt of the paper the June,18.
Here’s option two.
Which picture would you have chosen?

Depending on the content of the related story, I would have chosen the second photo.
When I see the first one, I wonder why the people are getting onto the train with bikes. In all my times riding Amtrak, I don’t think I’ve seen someone get on in a helmet. So that makes me think, “Is this story about some significant biking event and then they’re hopping a train to get to something else?”
Rather than the second photo, which looks like a pretty normal occurrence of people boarding a train. It’s a little dark near the bottom with all the bags and pants, and maybe the first one is a better photo, but I think (if the story is a general piece relating to Amtrak) the second one’s a better editorial fit.
