Going at the Citygarden
While strolling around the new Citygarden last week, it didn’t take long for me to realize that something was missing. After these kids stood over one of the shooting water nozzles for a short time, they both announced that they (naturally) needed to go to the bathroom. Guess what? There are no public restrooms to be found. A short time later I talked with one of the contractors who developed this beautiful park. He told me that he wasn’t supposed to give interviews, but he did say that the bathroom omission was deliberate. Apparently, the thinking was that it is better to inconvenience the publicĀ rather than make a place for the homeless to use. How sad. Couldn’t they have come up with a better alternative.
The end result is that I sure wouldn’t let my kids drink from the new fountains.
