Democrats: GOPers who tout stimulus benefits “hypocrites”
WASHINGTON — Can Republicans who denounced the new economic recovery package in fiery terms turn around and tout the benefits?
The Democratic Congression Campaign Committee says that’s what’s happening, and they’ve assembled a GOP “Hypocrisy Hall of Fame” that includes Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-St. Elizabeth.
Democratic operatives tracked down some of Luetkemeyer’s televised remarks referring to educational benefits from the stimulus and a shovel-ready project that he said the economy needs.
Luetkemeyer, as you may have read here at STLtoday, was unfailingly critical of the stimulus. When it passed last Friday, he put out a news release lambasting the Democrats’ “reckless” plan.
“I am acutely aware that people are hurting out there, but this massive spending bill will do nothing to improve the quality of life of hard-working taxpayers who understand that we can not borrow and spend our way back to prosperity while heaping mountains of debt on our children and grandchildren,” he said in a statement at that time.
Inconsistent? Hypocritical?
Nope, Luetkemeyer spokesman Paul Sloca said when asked about the DCCC assertions.
“There are a few good things in this, but its many flaws, including its massive price tag, vastly outweighs any positives,” Sloca wrote in an email. “Blaine would vote against this bill again in a heartbeat because most folks have told him that they think this taxpayer-financed spending spree stinks … “

I hope Blaine will proudly proclaim that the money used in his district to help his constituents is proudly brought by President Obama despite his own personal opposition.
Would this “Hypocrisy” be like not reading the intel, voting for the invasion of Iraq… then screaming that you had been lied to by Bush?
Naaaah… of course not.
Hypocrisy belongs to our wonderful Sen. Blunt who talks about “carrying the water” while damning the faucet that he did not help to turn on. Please!
> talks about “carrying the water” while damning the faucet
> that he did not help to turn on
Huh?
Give me some more peanuts and Cracker Jack. I never wanted to come to this silly ballgame anyway. How much is the beer? I’ll have a Bud Light. Why doesn’t the manager hit and run? This is ridiculous. The price of parking alone would bankrupt most people…Where’s the mustard? How can I eat a hotdog without mustard…..Hey, Puljos…swing the bat!.
Nachos, over here! Where’s the cheese?
Sit down Blaine…
Remeber, you didn’t want to come to this game in the first place.
When did Blunt become a senator?
I have to say I agree with Garrison on this one. If you had no input on the bill and voted against a bill you couldn’t possibly read before you voted on it, you have no business touting the bill what so ever.
Bail-out? (ANOTHER?) oh! , no-no-no this is a CONTINUATION ,…’MORE OF THE SAME’
All this is absent of vision.Look, DETROIT Car Compannies just asked for more money right? And that was predicted to happenned. They want over 25 BILLIONS all in total ; and one company is to leave out of work 3000 workers and another one more that 2700.
So, if this administration (Obama and his gang) really want to demonstrate care for jobs?,… Obama an his gang should and MUSTY TELL THEM that they can get the money, as long ABSOLUTELY NOBODY LOOSE THREIR JOB.
But you see, those CEO’s want the money for themselves,….and everyone knows that. This ’stimulus’ (really an SPENDING PLAN) is a tool for this CURRENT CORRUPTED ADMINISTRATION to TRANSFER THE MONEY OF TAXPAYERS THROUGH A BUNCH OF CORRUPTED POLITICIANS TO ANOTHER GROUP OF CORRUPTED POLITICIANS.
After all, many people there in the Obama Clinton-clone bogus and ‘MORE OF THE SAME’ ADMINSTRATION ARE TAX CHEATERS AND SO FORTH AND SO ON, CORRECT? Jut wait and see the dynamics.
Did anyone vote for this DECEPTION?
sleep well,

Poorly written !! Exactly what was it that Luetkemeyer is alleged to have said?
Is there a missing link to the DCCC’s press release?

Just because you don’t buy into all the crap in the so-called “simulus” doesn’t mean there aren’t good aspects of the bill.
Anytime you vote a a bill that’s several hundred pages long, there are bound to be good along with the bad. He did his part to try and get a better stimulus package. From here on out, he is going to need to push to make sure the stimulus is spent in the best way possible.
I don’t think his is Hypocrisy, it’s just what happens when the Democrats run the government like a zero-sum game.
