Illinois ball: No Obama?
WASHINGTON - Inside the Illinois Gala Ball at the Renaissance Washington Hotel, attendees have just started eating (asparagus over prime rib). There’s a big display of Illinois products (Ritz crackers, Nilla wafers) but the Illinois product everyone’s most interested in seeing - President-elect Barack Obama - seems unlikely to appear tonight, as was earlier rumored. No one’s said it, but there were no metal detectors at the entrance.
