Highway 40: A Cardinal concern?

You think commuters are worried now about the Highway 40 repairs? Wait until it costs the Cardinals a pennant.

Read this explanation from the team’s official Web site about why outfielder Chris Duncan, who earlier in the day went to the doctor to stitch up a minor head wound, was not in Thursday’s starting line-up:

Duncan got to the stadium minutes before first pitch at 12:10 p.m. CT, thanks to some traffic on the highway. The left-handed slugger came in as a pinch-hitter in the eighth and led off the inning with a double.

Yikes - if it was Albert Pujols who was stuck on the interstate, there might have been a Congressional intervention. Makes me wonder if Pete Rahn is a Cubs fan.

Hopefully this will lead to an increase in Cardinals, and other downtown professionals, purchasing (or even renting a part-time) residences in downtown. While there are already considerable numbers of pro athletes as well as big-time business & political players in the area, more would help, especially with building revenue into the area (taxes and spending) as well as to attract new retail ventures.
As you guys arrive, bring another grocery or a pharmacy.

Why are the officials listening to the Flim Flam man, Pete Rahn? He didn’t do to well with the New Mexico highway project. DON’T CLOSE 40!
