Donnelly releases list of supporters; Koster about to jump in

State Rep. Margaret Donnelly, D-Richmond Heights and an announced candidate for attorney, just e-mailed a release with her latest list of legislative supporters:

State Representatives:

Maria Chappelle-Nadal

Shalonn “Kiki” Curls

Sam Komo

Sara Lampe

Beth Low

Jenee Lowe

Jamilah Nasheed

Michael Spreng

Rachel Storch

Tom Villa

Michael Vogt

Clint Zweifel

Jeannette Mott Oxford

State Senators:
Rita Heard Days

Joan Bray

“As ranking member of the Budget Committee in the House, Margaret led the Democratic opposition to the Republican cuts to Medicaid in Missouri,” said Zweifel, among several quoted in the release as offering praise.

Said Donnelly: “Earning the respect and endorsement of my peers is something every lawmaker strides for. I look forward to winning this race with their help and continuing the same solid work ethic that won their respect.”

Her Democratic rival is former state House Minority Leader Jeff Harris of Columbia, who earlier announced a number of legislative supporters.

MEANWHILE:

The renegade Democrat in all this — former Republican Chris Koster of Harrisonville — is set to announce his bid for attorney general within the next couple weeks, allies say.

All eyes will be on the fundraising tallies reported Monday by Donnelly, Harris and Koster. (Political Fix does NOT report word-of-mouth tallies. We have to have copies of the official reports.)

So, for how long will Koster be “former Republican”? You know, HRC was a Goldwater Girl back in the day, maybe you should also call her a former Republican.

Well Nick I love to read your posts. Can’t think I ever agree with you but you always do a good job carrying the conservative ball. But now we finally agree on one thing. You want him to be a Democrat, I wished he would have stayed a Republican. You think his total support of the Blunt agenda was right, I think it was wrong. Unless I am wrong I think we can both agree that the man is a political opportunist. All the money in the world isn’t going to change that. Expect him to get a chilly reception from people like me and to finish third in the primary

It’s amazing how one can go from being a Republican leader, to a moderate Republican, to barely a Democrat…and now Koster is a “renegade Democrat”.

Who cares if he jumps in. Even if he did get the nomination (which he probably won’t be able to beat out Jeff Harris for), Gibbons probably has all kinds of dirt on him.

That’s a good diverse group for Donnelly. You got labor, blacks, liberals and moderates on there.

Funny how Donnelly releases this list right after the Koster campaign releases their numbers. Kind of like how the Harris campaign jumped on the endorsement bandwagon.

Love him or hate him, Koster is playing this game at a higher level than either Harris or Donnelly.
