Bowman officially leaves the House

Lawmakers had a light day today, as many left early because of the impending snowstorm.

One item of business, though, was recognizing that today is Rep. John Bowman Sr.’s last day in the House. Representatives gave Bowman a warm ovation and many came over to shake his hand or pat him on the back during his last day of official business.

Earlier this month, Bowman, D-Normandy, pleaded guilty to federal charge relating to a credit card scam. Officials said he would probably get probation as part of the deal. Bowman agreed to resign, effective today, and not run for office while on probation.

UPDATE: As his last act in office, Bowman filed HB 1939, which would require contractors to pay their adult full-time employees a living wage while working under most state contracts. The bill says that a living wage is what one must earn to “live at least according to minimum customary standards.” Or, more simply, $8.50 per hour.

Not that it’s likely to pass this session, but I guess stranger things have happened.

A better question would be who shook the crooks hand or patted him on the back?

One more criminal out. Brad Robinson should be next.

Some disgusting excuses for humans we have been voting to office lately.
