Clay, Carnahan, weigh in on stimulus package vote

U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-St. Louis, was the first to weigh in today on the congressional vote on the economic stimulus package.

“Many families in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District are struggling to make ends meet,” said Clay.
“They’re worried about the future as they are facing mounting economic burdens caused by falling home values, mortgage foreclosures, job layoffs and higher prices for essentials like food and fuel.  I am proud that the House came together in a bipartisan way to act aggressively to get our economy back on track.”

U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, was the second:

“At a time when our country is under economic distress, I am pleased Congress and President Bush are working in a more bipartisan manner to create an economic stimulus package targeted for the middle class and those who need it most,” Carnahan said.
