Huckabee announces 31 legislative backers, headlines rally in Creve Coeur

Here’s the list of the 31 Missouri legislators who announced their support for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who’s a Republican candidate for president.

He was in Missouri to campaign, while awaiting the results of Florida, where he ended up in fourth place. (Huckabee said in an interview that he wasn’t surprised by his Fla. finish, and that he expected to do much better on Feb. 5 in southern and Midwestern states.)

We’ll link to the P-D story on Huckabee’s visit, and the activities of other Republican hopefuls, when it’s posed.

In the meantime, here’s the list of the pro-Huckabee legislators:

Missouri Faith and Family Chair, Senator John Loudon

State campaign chairman, Sen. Delbert Scott

Representative Jim Avery

Representative Brian Baker

Senator Matt Bartle

Representative Mark Bruns

Representative Wayne Cooper

Representative Cynthia Davis

Representative Ed Emery

Representative Barney Fisher

Representative Ward Franz

Representative Steve Hunter

Representative Will Kraus

Senator Brad Lager

Representative Scott Lipke

Representative Bob May

Senator Rob Mayer

Representative Brian Munzlinger

Representative Bob Nance

Representative Brian Nieves

Representative Darrell Pollock

Senator Chuck Purgason

Representative Don Ruzicka

Representative David Sater

Representative Rodney Schad

Representative Charlie Schlottach

Representative Tom Self

Representative Jason Smith

Representative Mike Sutherland

Representative Don Wells

Representative Dennis Wood

Representative Brian Yates

The release emphasizes some of Huckabee’s key views:

” ‘I want to turn the nonsense of our tax system to the common sense of what’s often called the FairTax,’ Huckabee said.  He also discussed being pro-life was well as his stance on homeland security, terrorism and the economy.”

Though I dislike his early promises of a national smoking ban, Huckabee’s commitment to pro-life is stellar:

Fortunately for the Republicans, it looks like Huckabee is doomed. Nominating him would be a great way to put Hillary in the White House.

If Hillary gets the nomination there’s not a Republican alive who can stop her. It was just 2 months ago the neocons were claiming Hillary doesn’t stand a chance against Rudy….Look who’s still standing.
The fact that Huckabee is hoping to win Missouri shows how backwards Missouri Republicans are perceived by the rest of the country.

On the contrary, I think that any of the republicans in the presidential race could beat Hillary.

Nobody has ever entered a presidential race with so many people who either distrusted or downright disliked them as Hillary.

If Hillary is the nominee, the question isn’t how many will vote republican, the question is how many will vote against her?

Well…..prior to the 2004 election, Bush had a 45% negative rating acording to a CBS poll.
And 57% thought the country was going in the wong direction….We’ll see how all those negatives hurt Hillary this Tuesday……

Welcome Madam President…
You gun-totting beer-belly scratchers just can’t stand the thought of a woman president…can you.
Clinton V. McCain……You might as well run Bob Dole. Maybe Dole can be on McCain’s ticket.
