Open thread open for business!
We’re a day late, but hope we’re not a dollar short.
Technical problems on the site prevented me from posting the weekly Open Thread on Sunday. But they’ve apparently been resolved, so I’m trying to make up for lost time.
So, the Open Thread is open for business. What are your big concerns about issues or candidates? What have we been failing to cover? What do you know about, that we here at Political Fix do not?
Our inquiring minds want to know.
Go forth, and post!

Where is my weekly dose of pro-smoking propaganda?
it was quite a site to see so many people boo Mayor Slay at the MLK event that he didnt even get a chance to speak. This reminded me on when Talent came to the even a few years ago and only goes on to support what I have thought for years, the organizers of that event and those who attend come from totally different perspectives.

Regarding your comments … well, it’s sad to see that despite electing two black mayors, many in St. Louis still remain mired in its twisted, obsolete view of race. If this is just the beginning of next year’s mayoral race, I can only imagine the disgusting election it will be. Some blacks in our city are unashamed bigots, and if they win an election, they will run this city into the ground.
JK, you will have to settle for a comment on your post. I am not pro-smoking. It is fine with me if no one ever smoked again and the tobacco companies went out of business. I just want St. Louis business owners and patrons to be free to make their own decisions about matters such as smoking.
Those seeking to recall Mayor Slay have called for an economic boycott of the City of St. Louis. But in spite of the importance of that bloc of votes in the Democratic Primary, some of the presidential candidates are thumbing their noses at the boycott and holding events in the city. The most noticeable example was the John Edwards rally at Carpenters Hall. St. Louis Women for Obama held a “Ladies Night Out” event Friday night at the Flamingo Bowl downtown. Ironically, the campaign that held its campaign in the county instead of the city was Hillary Clinton’s, the one endorsed by Mayor Slay.
Oracle,
That is the same post you put somewhere else and it really is not interesting. Obama has not come to St. Louis city during the boycott and I am sure he has little knowledge or ability to control what the St. Louis women for Obama do.
On an interesting note, Obama was the only candidate who had people at the MLK march today. I guess Hilary is giving up on that voting block.
Blunt appears ready to name another white male to the St. Louis Police Board. While I am sure he is a nice guy, is there no African American that would be appropriate for the Board? In the 90s we had an African American Mayor, chief, and Police Board President with a majority of the Board African American. Now only one member is Black. Will Jeff Smith and Maida Coleman stand up to Blunt and refuse to bring his nominees forward until we get at least two African American members on this important board?
This column by David Nicklaus should give St. Louis leaders pause. The looming recession should further convince these leaders to leave St. Louis bars and restaurants alone.

What do you think about Matt Blunt announcing he will not run again?
