Carnahan chief of staff cited for too much revelry

Todd Patterson, chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, apparently engaged in a bit too much celebrating Tuesday night.

Carnahan spokesman Glenn Campbell confirmed tonight that Patterson received a police citation for “publicly relieving himself” as he walked home from a post-election watch party in Washington.

Patterson was given a $25 ticket,  accompanied police to the station and paid it, Campbell said. “He’s very embarrassed by it,” Campbell added.

Politico, the Web political publication, is expected to publish something later tonight about Patterson’s unfortunate run-in with the law.

Here’s the link to the site’s gossip item.

Amazed, isn’t it funny? Apparently dems find this “revealing” tidbit of political information a bit embarrassing, but tell me what you think they’d be saying if it were a staffer for Kit Bond or Kenny Hulshof …?

Jim it would be sad if it wasn’t so funny. Jo Mannies has taken it upon herself to delete several of my posts because according to her, they were “off topic.” Now everyone that plays in this little game here knows that seldom, if ever, posts are deleted for being off topic.

All of the posts deleted had references to the Brad Robinson case and sometimes referenced Nathan Cooper as in Nate Cooper=5 Political Fix threads, Brad Robinson=0 Political Fix Threads.

Something tells me there is a double standard.

To all: It was the editors’ decision to have this information posted on the blog.

It was slated to be on Politico today, so it was going to become public. Another place for it might have been in Deb Peterson’s column, but there is none today.

As for “Amazedbythelunacy,” your deleted posts WERE way off topic. And I do take such action frequently.

The P-D Web site has had coverage of Rep. Robinson’s problems, including the posting of the video. Again, when there is a political aspect to it, we’ll post something here.

Robinson’s matter is a pending criminal case. That’s different from the episode above, which was dealt with that evening and apparently has no further police developments.

I dont know- has there been an exhaustive investigation to determine it this was or was not an instance of a hate-urination? If so we must group- think this into several above-the-fold front page headlines and weeks of editorials!

— but was it a hate-urination?

I defend Todd’s decision to piss in public, especially in DC. I applaud the fact that it is worth no more than $25.00 to the DC Police. I don’t care that Jo broadcast it here on the blog—even though marginally newsworthy. And yes, if some staffer for Kit Bond, or Jo Ann Emerson did the same, we should likewise hear about it.

Last time I will bring it up Jo, promise.

How in the world is it that a State Rep charged with a felony not political? What about his decision to not even consider resignation? For crying out loud, the guy is on video switching places with his wife after he ran a guy over and left him in the road.

Please, Please, Please explain how a Missouri State Representative committing a felony not political. Heck we had two or three threads about Jeff Smith and his entering of a casino on false id.

I agree that this is a silly post, but then again, this is the P-D and given how much time they spent on the nothing casino incident with Jeff Smith and Joe Aull, what should we expect?

While both incidents may have people “tittering,” neither are really that news-worthy.

But I don’t think it’s fair to put the blame on Jo in this- editors do make a lot of these calls.

I’m glad Jo posted it. Mr. Patterson acted a fool and SHOULD be embarrassed. Public urination is nasty and AVOIDABLE (contrary to what some of his defenders apparently think). Maybe will act a little more responsibly in the future.

I agree with Amazed - there should have been a posting about Rep Robinson.

“AVOIDABLE”? Renee must not be an older coffee drinking swimmer (dont know if this issue worse for males; I dont know why it should be). At the risk of too much information, coming back from center of clayton last night after an hour of swimming, thank goodness for Del Taco; cost me $1.49 of transfat fries (didnt have to buy, but I was weak), but well worth the sense of, uh, relief.
And I think this Post ok. Why bury it. He didnt in my opinion, seem to do anything wrong, I’d like to see someone legally challenge such arrest sometime, and our opportunity to opine that police would seem better off exercising some discretion on such matters. And I like to think that sometimes they do if not blatant, gratuitous (not sure what that actually means in this context) or otherwise avoidable or irresponsible.
