Hulshof lines up legislators’ support

About 35 Republican state legislators have thrown their support behind U. S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof in his bid for the party’s nomination for governor.

House Speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, and Sen. John Griesheimer, R-Washington, led the cheering group during a press conference with Hulshof Wednesday in the Capitol.

“You could have scraped me off the floor” when Gov. Matt Blunt suddenly withdrew from the race last month, Griesheimer said. “But it’s a great day, because we’ve got a guy who’s outside the box, who’s going to carry us to victory in November.”

Griesheimer, who lives in Hulshof’s 9th Congressional District, was the only senator in the throng. All the others were House members.

Many senators are close to another gubernatorial hopeful, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a former senator. Kinder led the campaign when Republicans took control of that chamber in 2001.

“It’s hard, because Peter brought us into the majority,” Griesheimer acknowledged.

Hulshof had praise for both Kinder and State Treasurer Sarah Steelman, the third candidate vying to be the GOP’s nominee.

“Everyone has the right to run for public office, so whether or not there’s a primary is really not my call to make,” Hulshof said.

Asked whether he would hire Jetton as his political consultant, Hulshof said he was still putting together his campaign team. It might not have been a good day for Jetton to make a pitch: He was a paid consultant for Mitt Romney, who came in third in the state’s presidential primary on Tuesday.

No Sarah Steelman did work for and is not buddies with Jay Nixon.
No Sarah Steelman is not in Congress and voted 93% of the time as a buddy of the President. No Sarah Steelman did not put her name in for President of a major university and say that would be the only job that would cause them to leave Congress AND then turn around a year later and run for Governor.

Yes Sarah Steelman is an Independent thinker who looks at what is important to the people. Yes Sarah Steelman’s campaign slogan is Power to the People!

We are transforming into a “Grass Roots Citizen Campaign”. Our Goal and Objective is the help spread the word about how Sarah Steelman will be the best Governor for the People. She is endorsed by the Carpenters Union statewide and they say none has worked as hard for the working people as her. Sarah Steelman received an Economics degree from the University of Missouri . Having a Governor who has worked in and understands economics could benefit every Person in the State.

I wish you Sarah Steelman people would realize that the only way to beat Matt Blunt and his cronies like Rod Jetton and Kenny Hulshof is to drop out of the race and support Peter Kinder. I love Sarah Steelman but way too much baggage and you know what I’m talking about. Kinder has his problems, but I just want to see Kenny Hulshof and these establishment retards beaten.

Grieshiemer, there isn’t nobody carrying your fat ass anywhere! Ha, just kidding John. I’ll see you later today, I still can’t believe that you’re supporting Kenny Hulshof. I’m so sick of this cronism. Kenny would have been much better off staying in Congress.

P.S. In some news articles it says almost 50 legislators and in this article it says 35. Which is it? I can’t imagine there being 50 people left in this state that will tote Matt Blunt’s water and that’s the only people supporting Kenny Hulshof.

Would like to know who they are.

This whole campaign is smoke and mirrors- kind of like Hulshof’s entire congressional career-I’m with you when I’m in MO but boy I like the beltway.
The only thing for sure is that they have hired Hancock and that’s because he’s the one talking to the media while Hulshof avoids the questions.
Is this campaign for real- I mean anyone can print banners.- There is no ethics filing as of now, there is only inferred support from the powers that be: Blunt and Bond. Who are the 50 or should I say 35 or is it fewer legislators?
Other campaigns either aren’t saying such stuff or they back it up with documentation.

All you need to know is that Hancock is running Hulshof’s campaign and Jeff Roe is behind Steelman. That’s reason enough to support Kinder right there. Never mind the fact that Kinder has won statewide, has great name recognition, fights for conservative principles, and has done a lot for the STL area.

It’s a shame that this blog and many others, are being used by campaign lackies to make crack-pot predictions and juvenile observations. The Kinder post was nothing but a collection of campaign statements and this posting is fine example of more campaign garbage. “Establishment retards”…”smoke and mirrors”…”POWER TO THE PEOPLE”? It’s no wonder people hate politicians. I’ve been in the Capitol for years and I respect all of the candidates. Although I disagree with his positions on many issues,I even think Jay Nixon is a good guy. It’s the staff and campaign hired-gun-staffers and the instant experts that campaigns spawn. I hate these evil little pukes and their asinine postings. Go get some ice cream kids and leave the work to the adults.
