Hulshof lines up legislators’ support
About 35 Republican state legislators have thrown their support behind U. S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof in his bid for the party’s nomination for governor.
House Speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, and Sen. John Griesheimer, R-Washington, led the cheering group during a press conference with Hulshof Wednesday in the Capitol.
“You could have scraped me off the floor” when Gov. Matt Blunt suddenly withdrew from the race last month, Griesheimer said. “But it’s a great day, because we’ve got a guy who’s outside the box, who’s going to carry us to victory in November.”
Griesheimer, who lives in Hulshof’s 9th Congressional District, was the only senator in the throng. All the others were House members.
Many senators are close to another gubernatorial hopeful, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, a former senator. Kinder led the campaign when Republicans took control of that chamber in 2001.
“It’s hard, because Peter brought us into the majority,” Griesheimer acknowledged.
Hulshof had praise for both Kinder and State Treasurer Sarah Steelman, the third candidate vying to be the GOP’s nominee.
“Everyone has the right to run for public office, so whether or not there’s a primary is really not my call to make,” Hulshof said.
Asked whether he would hire Jetton as his political consultant, Hulshof said he was still putting together his campaign team. It might not have been a good day for Jetton to make a pitch: He was a paid consultant for Mitt Romney, who came in third in the state’s presidential primary on Tuesday.

When the spout off about how goody two shoes Kenny Hulsof is….
1. Remember his causing reversals of convictions of murderers for prosecutorial misconduct.
2. Before DeLay was given a handslap by Kenny and his merry band of GOP crooksters and wimpsters, he (and they) shut out the Democrats who wanted a more severe punishment against DeLay from the Ethics Committee proceedings. Having gotten the re-districting they wanted from DeLay’s financial finagling, the House Ethics Committe under its GOP leadership walked away from its responsibility to see things are done right. Shame! Shame on you Kenny Hulshof!
Steven, I have grown tried of you copying and pasting that same barely coherent post on every blog you visit. Furthermore, I wouldn’t know it from your picture but you must be a gymnast because that is the only way that you could possibly twist and contort the truth the way you did in that post. The Carpenters Union endorsed Mrs. Steelman in the Treasurer Primary, not the Governor Primary. I doubt that the Union will be willing to make the same endorsement now that she is no longer running against . . . wait. . . does anyone even know who she was endorsed against in the treasurer race?
Also, I find it hilarious that you mention other candidate’s past decisions when you are supporting Sarah “I’m out of the Race, no I’m in the Race” Steelman. Geez, I haven’t seen a candidate change their mind that much about running since Ross Perot ran, then didn’t run, then ran. . . .
Finally, you must have mistakenly posted the wrong Steelman campaign slogan. Her actual slogan is “Whatever Roe Wants.”
Just callin’ it like I see it.
Does Congressman Clay not ring a bell with anyone? And you want Sarah Steelman to be our next Governor? I dont think so…
Dania Patrick Pic…
I Googled for something completely different, but found your page…and have to say thanks. nice read….
