Jetton to consult for Onder in 9th District race

House Speaker Rod Jetton told reporters today that he plans to do consulting work for Republican U.S. House candidate Bob Onder.

“I’ve taken a real hard look at Bob Onder,” said Jetton, noting that the Lake St. Louis lawmaker has been a loyal caucus member.

Jetton, R- Marble Hill, said he has made a verbal commitment to do consulting work under his firm, Common Sense Conservative Consulting.

Onder is one of several Republicans running to replace U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, who is running for governor. The other candidates include: Rep. Danie Moore of Fulton, St. Peters resident Dan Bishir, Missouri Tourism Director Blaine Luetkemeyer and former Mizzou running back Brock Olivo.

Jetton cannot run again for re-election in the House and plans to go into consulting full-time instead of running for another office.

“My wife is very committed to me not running,” he said jokingly during a press availability on Thursday.

If Jetton’s consultation was worth having, Romney would have won Missouri. Jetton overcharges and underperforms; Onder would be better off without the meathead.

So Chuck, McCain’s victory was due to his superior state organization?

Oh wait…McCain didn’t have a Missouri organization? Exactly.

Romney’s campaign was dunzo by the time it hit MO, just as McCain’s campaign was basically coronated.

Jetton has way too much growing to do before he is ready to lead anyone to victory. I am certain after the trials God have planned ahead for him he will become a humble man and will become a worthy great leader, which presently, he is NOT.

Tribulation and hardship that will come to Jetton and this will shape him for true successful leadership. Once this come into past, Jetton will be truly be worthy of what he is striving for.

Presently, Jetton is an uncompassionate judgmental fool, but that will change by the grace of God and is will become humble and worthy.

Onder seems like a nice enough guy, but tell me where his appeal is? He has one issue in the past that he continues to make his sole issue into the future, and it’s abortion. Take a look at his legislation and past involvement in anti-Amendment 2 groups. He led the effort to ban research for life saving cures for all Missourians. He hasn’t displayed any other interests, and he certainly doesn’t have any presence outside of his neighborhood in Lake St. Louis. Come on, let’s be realistic about his chances of appealing to the diverse interests of the ninth district - very slim, to none. He will garnish support in his neighborhood, and no further. Also, Speaker Jetton as his political advisor is political suicide, as his work of late suggests - remember Romney? Lazy Missourians, anybody? Does Onder embody that sentiment, as well? Very unifying.

Has anybody checked into the obscene amount of self-funding that Luetkemeyer pumped into his failed bid for State Treasurer? $500,000? He’s the cover boy for the argument against self-funding political campains: distanced himself already further from the people, didn’t reach out to them, and proved the lack of support he had. The same story will play in this race. He has no network and is from the weakest part of the district, and no name recognition. Also, didn’t they make a lot of people very angry when he was appointed to the Tourism gig? I believe he demanded somebody qualified be pushed aside for him, and in doing so damaged his reputation with the people even further, if possible. Blaine continues to prove his self-serving approach, and the people know it.

Greg R. - Sure, Onder opposes legalized abortion, and it is an important issue to him. Amendment 2, to me, is more of an illustration of how Missouri’s initiative process has been hijacked by wealthy, self-interested groups, than of Missouri’s enthusiasm for “life saving cures.”

As far as Onder goes, he is in fact a brilliant man with a broad range of interests. That you are unaware of them says a lot more about your ignorance than Onder’s lack of diversity in his interests. In the last legislative session, Onder was sponsor or co-sponsor of 69 bills, only three of which were related to abortion.

Onder is a briliant man? Why in the world did he hire Jetton than? I believe that the company you keep defines who you are. Does Onder believe Missourians are lazy? Is he willing to trade all the lazy Missourians for Mexicans? Wow, that is scary. Onder co-sponsored 69 bills, meaning that his assistant tacked his name onto bills as they were walked through the capitol by fellow party members or special interest groups, we all know what co-sponsoring is. Ondor only SPONSORED 7 or so bills last year, and had the most presence with his abortion related legislation - which failed by the way. Did he pass any bills last year? Ignorance is bliss, Nick.

“Ondor (sic) only SPONSORED 7 or so bills last year”

He was a freshman legislator! Many legislators often only sponsor fewer than ten bills a year, simply because of the workload, let alone someone learning the ropes! How many should he have sponsored in your book?

Jason, get to know who you’re talking about before you make a fool of yourself.
