Montee campaign aide to run for state House

Yet another candidate for the state House has announced for the 25th District seat in Columbia, Mo.

The latest candidate is Sean Spence, who managed Susan Montee’s 2006 campaign for Missouri State Auditor. Spence now is an advisor to Montee. Spence announced his bid at  a fundraiser.

Says his release:

“Among others, the ‘Friends of Sean Spence’ Steering Committee includes former Missouri Senate Democratic Leader Ken Jacob, (Montee’s staff lawyer) who represented the 25th district for 14 years, longer than anyone in history; former Sierra Club President Ken Midkiff; immediate past president of the MU College Democrats Mark Buhrmester; and Kathleen Weinschenk, the named plaintiff in Weinschenk v. State of Missouri (the 2006 Missouri Supreme Court case that overturned Missouri’s unconstitutional voter ID law).“ ‘It is humbling to receive the support of so many people who have given so much to Missouri and I will not let them down,’ Spence said…“Spence, a 1993 graduate of the University of Missouri, runs a public relations and political consulting practice in Columbia, as well as being a part-time state employee for Montee.His release adds: “Spence is a progressive Democrat whose experience with the legislature and work with such leaders as Montee and former Lt. Governor Joe Maxwell will quickly position him for a key role in Jefferson City.
