Blogger, teacher challenge veteran committeemen
Jake Wagman
St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Update from the St. Louis Election Board: Blogger/political consultant Antonio French is reviving a family tradition, filling to run against political veteran Arthur “Chink” Washington for the 21st Ward Committeeman spot.

French’s late grandmother, Myrtle, served - and often sparred - with Washington as the ward’s Democratic committeewoman.

Across town, teacher Nick Clement, active in the educators’ union, filed to run against City Hall fixture Fred Steffen for committeeman in the 13th Ward.

We also hear that Sheriff Jim Murphy faces a challenge from Ken Griffey (no, not that Ken Griffey), a former deputy that Murphy fired in 2000. Griffey has previously run against Murphy, losing to him in 2004.

French twist: Blogger files for committeeman post
