A veteran political hand will take over the city’s NAACP branch, the St. Louis Argus newspaper reports.

Claude Brown Sr.- whose been involved in labor and Democratic politics for decades - is taking over the presidency of the local NAACP from Harold Crumpton, who is taking a post on the group’s national board.

Brown, who had been the NAACP’s first vice-president, is a familiar face at City Hall. He’s been a campaign consultant and is currently the Democratic Committeeman in the 2nd Ward. He’s also been an MSD trustee and a Teamsters organizer.
